NWT/NU Crime Stoppers  began in 1989 and is the north's most trusted information receiving service for people wanting to share what they know about unsolved crime and suspicious activity without saying who they are. Northerners feel safer knowing Crime Stoppers is in place across the territories and the country. 

Crime Stoppers was created to combat the three major problems faced by law enforcement:

• A fear of REPRISAL
• An attitude of APATHY, and
• A reluctance to get INVOLVED

Crime Stoppers is comprised of diverse, active and dedicated community volunteers. Crime Stoppers provides a method for local law enforcement to receive information on crimes. These efforts increase tips, which in turn increases community safety. |
